My Rating: 9 out of 10

Once I started doing a bunch of baking, it didn’t take long before I realized a stand mixer was the way to go.  But, they are not all created equal.  The first one I had was awful, it was an off brand, I can’t even remember what kind.  Regardless, it was really light weight, super wobbly and didn’t mix very well.  It was time to invest in a good one.  I shopped around for a while before finally deciding on the KitchenAid Artisan.  I absolutely love it!

KitchenAid Artisan Product Overview

This thing is built to last.  But, let me tell you, this sucker is heavy.  It weighs 26 pounds.  It’s definitely something you want to find a permanent home for somewhere on your counter. I have the 5 QT stand mixer in empire red.  There are over 20 colors to choose from. It has 10 speeds.  The top tilts back for easily inserting the attachments.  The bowl locks into place.  It includes a flat beater, dough hook, wire whip and pouring shield to help eliminate splatter.  The attachments are easy to put on and take off. The artisan series comes with a stainless steel bowl.  There’s also a deluxe model that comes with a glass bowl.

It’s Not Just Cookies and Breads

I love the versatility of this mixer. There are several attachments that can be purchased separately, such as a cheese grater, pasta roller, spiralizer, juicer, food processor, food grinder, it even has an ice cream maker attachment! Plus so many more.  I haven’t used all of those – not yet anyway!

Is It Worth The Investment?

I’ve read other reviews that said the mixer was loud and squeaky, but that it went away after a few uses.  I’ve also read other reviews that said the stainless steel bowl left gray residue on their dough.  According to KitchenAid, this has to do with the polish that is used and they provide instructions on how to properly clean the bowl to eliminate that problem.  Personally, I didn’t have these issues.  Overall, it’s a great product.  I never realized how handy these stand mixers were until I had one.  It’s so much easier than doing it by hand or using a one of those small hand mixers.  It’s simple, fast and you don’t have to do any of the heavy work.  Throw the ingredients in and watch it go!  It’s definitely made life in the kitchen a lot easier.  In my opinion, it’s totally worth the investment.  It’s a trusted brand and it’s built to last.
